The Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Act 2026 will be fully implemented on 9 August 2026 through these commencement regulations. The Act establishes a framework for protecting marine biodiversity in international waters beyond national jurisdiction. This brings into force all outstanding provisions of the legislation that were not previously activated. Organisations involved in maritime trade and operations in international waters should prepare for the regulatory requirements under the Act from this date.
